About me
Kristen Shaker is an accomplished software engineer known for her expertise in C++ refactoring and exceptional leadership abilities. She previously sat on Google’s C++ Core Libraries Team, where she was responsible for making the C++ portion of Google’s code base extensible, maintainable, and understandable via state-of-the-art refactoring tools, targeted guidance, and documentation on complex C++ topics.
Kristen’s technical expertise, leadership abilities, and dedication to fostering collaboration and growth made her a valued member of the Core Libraries Team for over seven years. She primarily worked on refactoring efforts, building and deploying Clang-based refactoring tools, and developed innovative tools for API migrations and type deprecations, facilitating the transition of over half a million call sites and removing more than 600 APIs.
Kristen has embarked on an exciting new career as a real estate agent. She leverages her analytical prowess, problem solving skills, and attention to detail to help her clients make strategic decisions and build wealth through real estate. Kristen is also a founding member of the New York C++ Meetup group and serves as Chair of the Board of the Boost Foundation. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering in Computer Science from the University of Michigan, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude.
